3 approaches to enter the ENSGTI
After obtaining a French baccalauréat S (scientific A-level), you can join a classe préparatoire aux grandes écoles, which is a two-year programme that prepares you to enter an engineering school, especially through the Concours Communs Polytechniques (CCP).
At the end of the second year, after taking several written and oral exams, the admitted candidate has to rank his school choices. According to his marks and his ranking, the candidate can enter one of the schools he has chosen.
50% of the ENSGTI students come from this school curriculum, from the pathways MP, PC, PSI, TPC.

Admission based on qualifications
The students who have chosen to join an IUT (Institut universitaire de technologie) after graduating from French lycée can submit an admission file to an engineering school. Around 25% of the ENSGTI students come from IUT Génie des Procédés (Process Engineering), Génie Thermique et Énergie (Thermal and Energy Enginering) or Mesures Physiques (Physical Measurements).
The admission is based on the student’s ranking, his marks, and teacher’s comments.
The ENSGTI also accepts in 1rstyear students who hold a French licence scientifique (scientific bachelor’s degree) and, in 2nd year, students who just earned a French master I (first year of a master’s degree). Finally, some students from “Prépa ATS” may also enter our School.

The Classe Préparatoire Intégrée (CPI)
A CPI is also a classe préparatoire aux grandes écoles, but the difference is, you don’t have to take a competitive examination at the end of the training programme. Your knowledge is examined continuously thank to continuous assessment. The admission is based on application file through the “post-bac” procedure (French “1ère” and “Terminale” educational outcomes) and a possible interview.
The ENSGTI also recruits students in the CPI de la Fédération Gay-Lussac, including the CPI FGL de Pau, the Classe Préparatoire de l’Université de Bordeaux I (CPBx) and the Prépa des INP. Around 25% of our students come from a CPI.
